The discussions....

It started with a Groupon (don't all great things?).  A nice hotel in Carlsbad, California next to Legoland.  A nice hotel, with a pool and a bar next to the pool with Cabanas, sounded good to me.  And then a trip to Legoland for the boy.  Perfect.  The idea exploded.  Now it is a 9 day half cross country trip with 8 states, a whole crapload of national parks and treasures and a giant hole made in the ground from a meteor 100 years ago.
I love my husband, dearly.  And I have provided him with an idea that has provided him the opportunity to spend hours on the internet looking up maps, websites, information and planning.  He has spreadsheets, and timed maps and hotel ideas.  I think he likes this part as much as he will like the actual trip, one of the many reasons I love him.
Everyday, he comes in the house or looks up from the computer and I know what he is about to talk about.  A new road, a new hotel, a new amazing thing to do.  How awesome is that!  It's like having a vacation planner for free.  Every idea he comes up with keeps the boy and I at the front of his planning.  Much better than a vacation planner.  He knows exactly the type of things we love.  Come on, would an vacation planner find a 20 foot concrete prairie dog for your 8 year old to take a picture in front of?  No, but my husband did.  He knows that the boy will laugh for hours because of it.  When we get there, when we look at pictures, when he looks at it now in the interwebs.
I look forward to the information he shares with me everyday about what he finds.  It makes me wonder what other treasures he will find.  Maybe a giant cement hermit crab?
